Recommended Training PathsPATH TO SUCCESSWhat Are Core Training Programs? I-CAR has designed new training paths that will assist all professionals in the collision industry. Organized by task areas, the training paths allow individuals to determine their training based on their chosen task area in the collision industry. The task areas include: Non-Structural; Structural; Refinishing; Mechanical; and Estimating, Management, Appraisal.
What Are Core Training Programs? I-CAR recommends that all students have a thorough understanding of the material found in the Core Training Programs before beginning any Non-Structural; Structural; Refinishing; Mechanical; or Estimating, Management, Appraisal programs. The Core Training Programs offer a broad understanding of different aspects of the collision industry and many of the concepts, methods, and procedures found in these programs provide the foundation for more advanced concepts in the I-CAR Live curriculum. Which Task Area Group Applies To Me? Each task area is divided into four sequential groups. The descriptive program names will help give you a good idea of what each program covers. However, the best way to determine your task area group is to read the program descriptions online or in the I-CAR Training Catalog. These descriptions detail the material covered in the programs. When searching online, you can use the online class search code located under each program description on the training paths. When selecting which task area is most appropriate for you, keep in mind that a good training program teaches you new information while also reviewing some material you already know and use.
How Do I Read The Programs On The Training Paths?
The I-CAR training paths were designed to be simple and universal to the collision industry. The legend at the bottom of the training paths explains some basic coding on the document. Every training program is listed by a descriptive program name, online class search code, and also indicates the number of points you will earn when successfully completing the program. What Does An Asterisk(*) Next To A Program Indicate? All training programs with an asterisk next to the program name have a prior recommended program that contains content relevant to the program, but is not listed in that particular task area column or included in the Core Training Programs. Please refer to the detailed program descriptions online or in the I-CAR Training Catalog for details.
Please note that programs without asterisks may still have prior recommended programs. However, those prior recommended programs are listed in the same task area column or in the Core Training Programs. Detailed program listings online and in the I-CAR Training Catalog contain all prior recommended programs for each program.
If you believe that previous training or in-service experience has provided you with an adequate level of training, you may elect to take the program without first completing the prior recommended programs. Keep in mind that the material covered in the Core Training Programs provides the foundation for many of the advanced concepts found in the training paths. Using the training paths can also help you to track your points. Under every program name is a number in parenthesis, which equals the number of points you will earn when you successfully complete the program. Not only will this help your business achieve the I-CAR Gold Class Professionals status, but for you to achieve the I-CAR Platinum Individual status as well!
