December 18, 2000 I-CAR ANNOUNCES INDUSTRY TRAINING ALLIANCE, GOLD CLASS NOW AN INDUSTRY PROGRAM I-CAR has joined with other Collision Industry technical trainers and vocational-technical schools to form the Industry Training Alliance. Technical training organizations that participate in the Alliance can now award Gold Class points to their students. Tom Mack, the Chief Executive Officer of I-CAR, stated The expansion of the Gold Class Professionals program to include other quality trainers is a logical extension of I-CARs efforts to ensure proper repairs for our Industrys customers. With the inclusion of qualified vocational-technical schools and in-service training organizations, we have greatly strengthened the Gold Class program by increasing the number of training sites and reducing the time and expense to attain Gold Class status. By creating an inclusive training effort, Gold Class becomes a true Industry training benchmark. Establishing an Industry benchmark for proper levels of training demonstrates to consumers and Industry observers that the Collision Industry recognizes, encourages, and supports technical training as essential to ensuring safe and complete repairs. I-CAR expects that within one year virtually all quality technical training organizations and vocational-technical schools will be members in the Alliance. As of this date, the in-service training programs of Sherwin Williams, Martin Senour and Chief Automotive are participating. Other major trainers are in the process of qualifying and will soon be participating in the Alliance. I-CAR is also making its new Enhanced Delivery courses available to vocational-technical schools to help more schools qualify for participation in the Alliance. I-CAR believes that providing the best available collision repair curriculum will greatly improve existing vocational programs and help new collision repair programs be implemented in schools without a collision repair program. To support the Alliance, I-CAR has greatly expanded the capabilities of its student database. Once I-CAR receives documentation that a student has successfully completed an Alliance training course, the student will receive an updated transcript listing all courses taken from all Alliance training providers. A listing of Alliance training providers and their courses, along with complete information regarding the Industry Training Alliance, is available on the I-CAR web site at www.i-car.com or by calling I-CAR Customer Care at 800.422.7872. All in-service training providers who are ASE CASE-Certified have the opportunity to participate in the Alliance. Application information, including a sample of a completed application, is available on the I-CAR web site. I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international not-for-profit training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of consumers.
