Current Events/News: I-CAR Press Releases: 1999 Press Releases November 30, 1999 I-CAR® INTRODUCES THE PLATINUM INDIVIDUAL PROGRAM IN THE US (Rolling Meadows, IL) I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, announced the introduction of the Platinum Individual Program in the United States, which will be available January 1, 2000 to Industry professionals. The Platinum Individual program was developed to recognize an Individual's commitment to quality and excellence through up-to-date training and knowledge of the Collision Industry. It is made up of individuals who have a high level of I-CAR and other recognized training and certification relative to their position in the Collision Industry. There are several benefits to becoming a Platinum Individual. In addition to standing out among their peers, Platinum Individuals can experience recognition within the Industry, increased confidence on the job, and improved efficiency in repairing vehicles. Efficiency is gained as Individuals expand their personal knowledge and learn where to find necessary information to complete a repair properly the first time. To become a Platinum Individual, several requirements must be met. Points toward the Platinum program are awarded for the successful completion of I-CAR courses and programs. Individuals can also earn points by completing training programs or by attaining certifications from other I-CAR recognized training providers. Each position has a required number of points to achieve based on the job description for that position. To become a Platinum Individual, applicants must achieve 100% of the points required for their positions. Also, there is a minimum point requirement to become Platinum, and an on-going training requirement to maintain Platinum status. Point requirements for each position and an application may be obtained by contacting I-CAR Customer Care at 800.422.7872 or by visiting the web site at www.i-car.com. For information about the Platinum Individual Program in Canada, call 1-800-565-ICAR. I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international not-for-profit training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of consumers.
