Grandfathering in 2007:

Existing Gold Class & Platinum designees (as of January 1, 2007) will be grandfathered into new requirements.

  • Gold Class
    • Businesses that actively hold the Gold Class designation on January 1, 2007 will continue to follow the position-related point requirements for their 2007 renewal.
    • They will not need 2 points of ongoing training until their 2008 renewal.
  • Platinum
    • Individuals that actively hold the Platinum designation on January 1, 2007 will need to meet their existing ongoing training requirements (2 points over 2 years) for their next renewal (after January 1, 2007).
    • Grandfathered Platinum individuals will not need 2 points of annual ongoing training until their 2008 or 2009 renewal, depending on their current term.
    • To re-qualify, Platinum individuals will follow 10&2 ongoing training rules (2 points annually).

Ongoing Training Timeframe:

  • Ongoing training must be completed in the year between application dates. For example, if a business’ renewal date is May 2008, ongoing training must be earned by all employees from May 2007 to May 2008.

Employee Point Requirements

  • To earn or maintain the Gold Class designation, all employees directly involved in the collision repair or estimating processes must meet training requirements.

Gold Class Professionals and Platinum Individual applications are available on the I-CAR web site. For additional assistance, please call your regional manager at 800.422.7456 or customer care 800.422.7872.
