I-CAR WORLD HEADQUARTERS OPENS ITS DOORS TO COLLISION INDUSTRY
The new 25,000 sq. ft. building greatly increases current capabilities for I-CAR and with the ability to expand an additional 15,000 sq. ft., it provides for future growth within I-CAR. The Inter-Industry Training Centre, a classroom that seats up to 90 people to assist in training professionals, is an important part of the new I-CAR facility. I-CAR has opened its’ doors to the collision industry to use this classroom for conducting future industry meetings. I-CAR International Board of Directors Chairman Rod Enlow said, "This building is truly an asset for the entire collision industry. We hope that the Inter-Industry Training Centre is booked solid for next year. We could not have built this without the support of our industry for I-CAR and its Vision. We are looking forward to even higher levels of performance from both our staff and instructor network as a result of the capabilities gained by our new World Headquarters.”
I-CAR Education Foundation Board Chairman Clark Plucinski said, "In the 20 plus years I have been associated with I-CAR; I have always been made to feel like part of the I-CAR family. As a volunteer, that was important to me. From the moment I walked through the door of the new I-CAR World Headquarters, it felt like home. The new facility will also be a great addition towards the future success of the I-CAR Education Foundation. There is a solid Vision, strong financial status, and a tremendous Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and staff. CCC INFORMATION SERVICES INC. MARKS 25TH ANNIVERSARY WITH $25,000 IN STUDENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN SCHOLARSHIPSOffered in cooperation with the I-CAR Education Foundation; student applications now being accepted.
"Retaining and recruiting qualified repair technicians remains a critical challenge for our industry,” said Jim Dickens, senior vice president at CCC. "We have created the CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship program to help ensure that the best and brightest student technicians remain in school and go on to work in the industry. And, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, we wanted to give something back to the industry that has been very supportive of us, while reaffirming CCC’s commitment to the future of automotive claims and collision repair.” According to the CollisionWeek 2005 Business Conditions and Repairer Optimism report, nearly 19 percent of repair facilities reported that they were unable to fill qualified technician positions in 2004. Additionally, more than 27 percent of the larger, MSO-level repair facilities reported having a hard time filling positions in 2005 and more than 11 percent of all repair facilities reported that they’ve been unable to fill open positions for more than one month. Ron Ray, executive director of the I-CAR Education Foundation, stated that: "The shortage of qualified repair technicians has the potential to negatively impact the ability of shop owners to run efficient and profitable businesses. CCC’s scholarship program will address this issue head on, providing funding to help students receive a high-quality education before entering the collision repair workforce.” About the CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship The CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship program will award scholarships to students currently enrolled at each of the five schools, and have a combined value of $25,000. Students must meet pre-determined criteria to be eligible for the scholarship. Schools participating in the inaugural year of the CCC Outstanding Student Technician Scholarship program were selected based on criteria that include ASE certification, use of the I-CAR Advanced Training curriculum and geographic location. About the Participating Schools Bridgerland Applied Technology College (BATC) Bridgerland Applied Technology College (BATC) is one of the nine applied technology college campuses in the state of Utah. It was officially organized under the State Board of Vocational Education and funded by appropriations from the Utah State Legislature in January of 1971. A special session of the Utah State Legislature in June 2001 restructured the governance of this campus and established Bridgerland Applied Technology College, a Utah College of Applied Technology (UCAT) Campus. Remember: a good training program teaches you new information while incorporating and reviewing some material you already know and use. Because Group I builds on the Core Training Programs, and programs in Group II build on Group I and so on, you need to have an understanding of materials found in the Core Training Programs as well as previous groups before beginning more advanced training.
