SEIDNER'S COLLISION CENTERS ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT BENEFITS THE I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS

I-CAR Education Foundation PACE+ST3Several high schools in Southern California's San Gabriel Valley will receive much needed curriculum and additional support thanks to Seidner's Collision Centers.

During a brief meeting at NACE 2004; Steve Seidner, Vice President of Seidner's Collision Centers announced a contribution of nearly $10,000 to I-CAR Education Foundation Executive Director Ron Ray and I-CAR Executive Vice President and CEO Tom McGee. The funds were raised during the 2004 Seidner's Collision Centers Charity Golf Tournament that that was held on October 21, 2004 at Sierra LaVerne Country Club in LaVerne, California; which drew 88 golfers and support from sponsors.

Alhambra High School in Alhambra, California, will be one of the recipients of the I-CAR Enhanced Delivery Curriculum. Victor Quiroz, collision repair instructor at Alhambra High School says, "Our program is in the process of becoming ASE certified to the NATEF standards and once complete, we intend to participate in the PACE+ST3 program offered by the I-CAR Education Foundation."

I-CAR Education Foundation Additional schools that will benefit from this contribution include Gladstone High School in Azusa, California and Monrovia High School in Monrovia, California.

Steve Seidner said, "This was our eighth annual charity tournament and in the past the tournament committee has donated the proceeds to organizations like; The Foothill Unity Center - a local non-profit food bank, and local cancer research organizations like The City of Hope. We made the decision to support local schools this year as we have had several recent positive experiences with hiring valued employees from these schools. We believe the past six years of reaching out to get involved with our local schools is beginning to pay off and now with a program like PACE + ST3 available, we want these schools to have the opportunity to participate. "

Seidner's Collision Centers is a leader in the automotive collision industry with six San Gabriel Valley and three Riverside County locations. The nine locations offer Seidner's business partners greater regional flexibility to reach the needs of their clients and policyholders. Seidner's Collision Center is a family owned organization with 40 years of experience in excellent service to all of their guests.

The I-CAR Education Foundation, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and number of entry-level employees for the collision industry. Its IRS 501(c)(3) status allows it to accept grants and donations from government agencies, individuals and businesses. The mission of the I-CAR Education Foundation is, "To attract entry-level candidates and assist in preparing them for careers in the collision industry."

Industry professionals were given the ability to visit a wide variety of businesses and organizations at the trade show. Mid-America race car driver Josh Nelms, who is also the collision repair and refinishing instructor at the Technology Center of Dupage, was also in attendance and displayed his Chevy Monte Carlo race car in the trade show area.

I-CAR Training

Many of the event attendees took advantage of the Structural Aluminum Design and Repair Processes (SPA01) training program that was available to attendees at a discounted rate of $60. I-CAR Instructor Steve Schmidt, who taught the packed classroom, said, "As the instructor, I was pleased to see the large, very positive turnout for the SPA01 program. Having nearly 100 individuals show up to attend the course on a Tuesday afternoon illustrated the high level of commitment that the Chicago-area collision industry places on technical training. The attendees, from all over the Midwest region, showed a significant interest in structural aluminum repair issues."

Steve added, "I think the local I-CAR committee volunteers, the I-CAR regional and national management, and all other enterprises that participated in the trade show did a masterful job of bringing members of the collision industry together at this event."

Emergency and Extrication Safety Training

I-CAR Instructor Todd Hoffman hosted emergency personnel and first responders during three emergency and extrication safety training programs that were conducted along with the tradeshow. Attendees were taught emergency services and first responder safety; restraint system overview, operation, and safety handling procedures; and hybrid and alternative fuel safety and handling procedures.

Todd Hoffman said, "Bringing emergency workers together with collision industry professionals proved to be a rewarding experience for both groups. The extrication safety training event allowed firefighters and collision professionals the opportunity to share common problems found with today's high-tech automobiles. By spending the day together, both groups whose jobs are completely different, learned how working together can benefit everybody."

Tech Clinics

Event attendees had over 10 tech clinic sessions to choose from during the tradeshow. These tech clinics sessions covered a wide variety of industry related topics. The committee would like to thank the following companies for their presentations: 3M, Car-O-Liner, CCAR, Chrysler Corporation, LKQ Corporation, OE Connections, and Wurth.

I-CAR South Central Regional Manager Mike Miller said, "This annual event continues to grow with each passing year due to the valiant efforts of very dedicated volunteers. This year the collision industry benefited greatly due to increased vendor presence, I-CAR training, and with more technical clinics. The local community was also well served with the Emergency Personnel Response Program. All participants are to be commended for their contributions to this event."

"This year, I-CAR wanted to hold this special event for I-CAR instructors to provide them with a networking and learning opportunity that goes beyond what we can accomplish on a regional level," said Rick Tuuri, I-CAR Director of Business Development and North American Operations. "While we will not be conducting regional conferences and the Canada national meeting this year, as have they have been held in the past, we will continue with them next fall or winter. Similar to what we are doing with the 2005 I-CAR Instructor Event, our goal will be to provide a new and unique approach to the regional conferences and the Canada national meeting next year to support, recognize, and show our appreciation to the I-CAR volunteers and committee members for all that they do for the collision industry."

"This event will strengthen the I-CAR instructor network by introducing them to the technical development staff, learning more about the program development process, participating in program development seminars, and attending technical or presentation seminars. Instructors from across North America will also have an opportunity to network with each other," said I-CAR Instructor Support Manager Todd Hank. "I-CAR has become the collision industry training leader due to the efforts of the instructors, committee members, and volunteers. Events such as this and future regional conferences are conducted specifically to assist and recognize their continued efforts."

Additional information regarding the Instructor Event 2005 will be posted online when available and sent via e-mail to current I-CAR instructors.
