I-CAR TRAINING DELIVERED VIA WEBEX - A STEP CLOSER TO TRAINING THE ENTIRE COLLISION INDUSTRY
WebEx classes are still live instructor-led programs; however, instead of the instructor being in your classroom, they are presenting the same I-CAR training via computer in real time. For example, an I-CAR instructor teaching from Dallas, through WebEx, has the potential of having students attend from Brandon, Manitoba; Jamestown, North Dakota; and Good Hope, Illinois (population just over 400) if host sites were available in each of these locations! WebEx, an online training service that integrates voice, video, and data sharing, offers an interactive learning environment. This, in combination with the I-CAR collision repair training curriculum, compliments live instructor-led training. It allows collision industry professionals across North America to be trained together and work towards fulfilling the I-CAR Vision that every person in the collision industry has the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to their position to achieve a complete and safe repair. I-CAR Director of Business Development and North American Operations Rick Tuuri stated, "I-CAR is pleased to provide this additional support for our existing instructors across North America. Currently, it’s not uncommon for an instructor to have to travel to teach I-CAR programs, sometimes at no small expense of personal time, money, or both. With this technology, we will be able to deliver some programs with an instructor in a convenient location and leverage the capabilities of the Internet rather than placing additional demands on our instructors while also increasing the availability of I-CAR training." Currently, the following I-CAR training programs are available via WebEx:
I-CAR Manager of Tech Centre Operations Lori Barrington said, "The main delivery of training for I-CAR is, and will continue to be traditional live classroom delivery. However, using WebEx as an additional delivery option vastly increases our ability to provide training to areas throughout North America. I-CAR "live" training delivered via WebEx will offer the same technical content and information as found in the traditional class setting. The only difference is that the instructor is not in the same location as the student, but instead is in a "virtual" classroom environment, communicating in "real-time" via the internet and telephone." I-CAR instructors and volunteers are the driving force behind the organization’s continued success and this new delivery method is also meant to assist them in their support of helping train the industry. Both instructors and volunteers will play an intricate part in the growth and expansion of the WebEx training delivery.
