fig_01 Photo

Jean-Marc Julien has been hired by I-CAR in the newly created position of Canadian Field Operations Support Manager. In this position based at the I-CAR Canada office in Etobicoke, Ontario, Julien will provide training and mentoring to I-CAR instructor candidates, assist in recruiting new instructor candidates, and provide support to the I-CAR Education Foundation in marketing the Enhanced Delivery training programs to Canadian career and technical schools and colleges and apprenticeship boards. He will also work closely with I-CAR Canada Field Manager Tracey Blouin in organizing and supporting I-CAR activities.

Julien has over 20 years experience in the auto collision industry and is fluent in both French and English. Before joining I-CAR, Julien was employed as the collision centre manager for Gateway Chevrolet Oldsmobile in Brampton, Ontario and as a collision centre assistant manager for Hawley Pontiac Collision Centre, in Mississauga, Ontario. Julien is also inter-provincially licensed as an auto body and collision damage repairer and automotive painter with the Ministry of Education and Training in Canada.

"With such a strong background within the automotive industry, I'm confident that Jean-Marc will be a significant asset to I-CAR," said Blouin. "His involvement, qualifications and achievements will greatly assist I-CAR in our efforts to provide up-to-date training for the Canadian collision industry."

I-CAR Director of Business Development and Field Operations Rick Tuuri also stated, "The addition of Jean-Marc to the I-CAR team clearly illustrates I-CAR's continuing commitment to success in Canada including improved service and support."

I-CAR training is now being taught in Bermuda as Bermuda Motors recently began taking the I-CAR Enhanced Delivery courses. On August 25-29, 2003, Bermuda Motors actually closed its collision repair department to have its seven repair technicians take the I-CAR CR3000 course.

I-CAR Southeast Instructor Bob Zelano said, "Wilfred Parker, Bermuda Motors' collision repair department manager, has a high commitment to training. He is looking forward to scheduling additional I-CAR training while also involving other businesses, insurance agencies and industry equipment suppliers. Parker prides himself on keeping up with technology by attending NACE annually to stay abreast of the changes within the industry and attending training by Toyota and Ford motor companies."

Parker noted that he is working towards achieving the Gold Class Professionals business designation for Bermuda Motors in order to set himself and his business apart from the competition by keeping up-to-date on the latest collision repair technology.

AWARENESS IN LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS HELPS BENEFIT LOCAL COLLEGE

I-CAR Instructor Todd Hoffman is organizing a special collision industry awareness event for Saturday, October 25, 2003 to be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. The day will serve as both a job fair and an informative event for the Arkansas collision industry. Beginning at 9 a.m., the event at Pulaski Technical College will feature vendor booths, including local collision repair businesses and insurance companies, presentations from vendors and three advanced estimating classes: Estimating Frame Damage, Estimating Suspension Damage and Estimating Refinish Damage.

Not only will the event assist those already in the collision industry, but also proceeds from the event will assist Pulaski Technical College in purchasing the I-CAR Enhanced Delivery curriculum for its students. Pulaski Technical College collision repair instructor Ken Leslie, who is also the Program Coordinator for Collision Repair Technology at the college, will host the event.

"This event will help the collision industry in Arkansas by providing training for current and future collision repair technicians," stated Hoffman. "We will also be bringing I-CAR awareness to the general public and helping to ensure their safety through training." Hoffman continued by saying, "This event will also provide the collision industry a chance to meet and talk with future technicians that are currently in training and will be in the job market very soon."

The awareness event offers a beneficial service to the collision industry, as well as to help ensure the continued preparation of entry-level industry employees. For more information about the event, please contact Ken Leslie at 501.812.2259 or I-CAR Instructor Todd Hoffman at 713.553.6279.
