I-CAR DALLAS COMMITTEE, GOING THE EXTRA MILE
By Southwest Field Manager Jeff Peevy

NACE 2002 brought many collision industry professionals to the Dallas, Texas area. The I-CAR Dallas Committee, aware of the upcoming industry conference, had the idea that more training opportunities could be made available for those professionals to take I-CAR courses and programs, in addition to the NACE sponsored I-CAR classes.

The Dallas I-CAR Committee, following the lead of I-CAR Instructors Johnny Dickerson and Todd Hoffman, orchestrated 28 additional Enhanced Delivery classes involving 13 different instructors from three regions throughout the week of NACE.

Thanks to the generosity of the NACE organizers, classrooms were available in the evenings after regular show hours making it convenient for attendees to attend classes after the exposition.

The long list of I-CAR classes that were offered allowed many attending the NACE sponsored Refinish Program 3 to complete the entire Refinish Course while attending NACE. Others took advantage of newer programs such as Welding and Cutting Steel Program 4 (Squeeze-type Resistance Spot Welding).

While attendance in the classes varied from class to class, the end result was over 250 additional student units being taught during NACE week. The overall results were well worth the efforts of Hoffman, Dickerson and the Dallas I-CAR Committee. These classes would not have been made possible without all the instructors and committee members who were involved.

I-CAR INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEMBER NICK GOJMERIC HONORED AT NACE 2002

Gojmeric was awarded the “Curb Appeal” award given by Assured Performance Network. This award is given to those who achieve the best in business presentation and overall marketing. Nick Gojmeric, owner, president and CEO of Collision Plus Auto Body Repair Centers in Belleville, Swansea and O’Fallon, Illinois is a second-generation shop owner. Gojmeric started as an automotive body and refinish technician; graduated to estimator, then to general manager; and then moved forward to designing, supervising construction of, and implementing the start-up and continued successful operations of the three Collision Plus locations.

“The Collision Industry Night of Achievement recognizes those businesses and individuals that are dedicated to improving the quality of repairs and the image of the industry,” stated Tom McGee, I-CAR’s Executive Vice President and CEO. McGee further commented, “What makes many of the awards that much more meaningful is that the winners are selected by their peers. Nick and the staff at the Collision Plus locations should be very proud to have received this award and be making a positive impact on the collision industry.”
