NEW COURSES ADDED TO THE INDUSTRY TRAINING ALLIANCE

As of August 2001, two additional training courses from Alliance provider Chief Automotive Systems have been added to the Industry Training Alliance. The courses, Advanced Steering & Suspension Analysis and Unibody Analysis & Repair Planning, are each worth four Gold Class points toward the Gold Class Professionals or Platinum Individual programs.

The Alliance was established to eliminate redundant training and coordinate the training efforts of the collision industry. By offering Gold Class points for completing Alliance training programs, Gold Class becomes an industry measurement of technical training for a location or an individual. In addition to Chief Automotive Systems, current Alliance training providers include BASF, DuPont Performance Coatings, Martin Senour Paints, PPG Industries, and Sherwin Williams Automotive Finishes.

Find out if the training you have taken qualifies for Gold Class points! The Alliance student application ([an error occurred while processing this directive]) is available online and includes a list of all approved training programs.

AWARD WINNER PROFILES: SOUTHEAST REGION

Virginia Wins Top Honors At I-CAR's Annual Meeting

Virginia won virtually every award for the Southeast Region this year. Jesse Jones of the Roanoke, Virginia Committee began Virginia’s stampede to the award podium by winning the coveted Founder's Award. This award is the highest honor I-CAR bestows on a volunteer. Jesse has labored many years for I-CAR's cause, and richly deserves this award. Congratulations, Jesse!

The state of Virginia won the Superior Performance Award for 2001 by reaching the highest percentage over their goal for the year and teaching the highest number of I-CAR courses available in the region.

The Instructor of the Year Award was presented to George Sanders of the North Virginia District Committee. George has been teaching I-CAR classes for about 11 years, and was overdue for this recognition. Thanks for all of your hard work, George!

The Northern Virginia Committeea also won the District Committee Award for the Southeast Region. This is a new award, created to recognize I-CAR volunteers and the committees they form and operate. It is presented to the committee athat has conducted the highest amount of training over their original plan for the year.

George Sanders stated that the key to a successful committee is to "talk to as many people as you can about I-CAR. With the reputation I-CAR has, a lot of people are willing to listen." He stated that whenever people ask him about I-CAR classes, he talks to them about volunteering. "My goal," George stated, "is to get as many people involved with the I-CAR organization as I can."

Congratulations to District Chairperson Ted Crabtree, George Sanders, Lisa O'Neal and all of "the army of Northern Virginia" for another tremendous year!
